Medium density fiberboard (MDF) isn't suitable for every construction project, but it's ideal for making low-cost, high-quality mouldings. After primer is applied, take the time to remove any fiber that may appear due to rising grain. Removal is simple: just use a Scotch Brite pad to remove fuzz after priming and before painting. (Bosley Mouldings recommends 3M #7447 pads.) If your MDF mouldings need to be sanded, a 220 grit or higher sandpaper is recommended. At this point, your mouldings are ready to be painted.
